The exhibition “Woman of Woman” gives space to Finnish women artists by presenting works of Finnish women artists collected by Pirkko Pasanen. The exhibition includes works by Cris af Enehielm, Outi Heiskanen, Rosa Liksom, Leena Luostarinen, Riitta Uusitalo, Maria Stereo and Sinikka Tuominen, among others. The exhibition’s overarching theme is femininity: works about femininity made and collected by women.
Pirkko Pasanen was born in Kuopio, grew up in Muuruvesi and has long worked in Helsinki. She started actively collecting art in the 1980s, from which she has for example work by Leena Luostarinen. Previously a dozen works from Pasanen’s collection have been donated to Kiasma.
The exhibition is dedicated to Pasanen’s late friends Reijo Hukkanen and Sinikka Tuominen. Pasanen’s collection includes many works by both Tuominen and Hukkanen, which is why the exhibition, which is otherwise dedicated to women artists, has also included Hukkanen’s work.
