KUMMA is an art museum located in the very center of and it operates at the heart of the Northern Savonian art scene. We are compact in size but grand in spirit. Our exhibitions, events, and other activities offer unique experiences and diverse sensations in our own peculiar way.

Our museum preserves Northern Savonian art for the present and future, encourages everyone to experience art, and creates opportunities for artists. Our values are expertise, interactivity, forward-thinking, and equality.

Community and collaboration are important to us. In addition to our museum shop, our premises house GalleriA and the Kuopio Art Lending service, through which we aim to increase the visibility and availability of art in collaboration with the Kuopio Artists’ Association – Ars Libera. As the regional art museum of Northern Savonia, we bolster the position of visual arts in the area.

Our work with collections focuses on Northern Savonian visual art and the enhancement and care of existing collections. Public art has a long tradition in the city of Kuopio, and the percentage principle has been followed since 2003.
